Everton’s Official Ticketing Innovation Partner, Ticketmaster Sport, is helping to strengthen maths education in schools across Merseyside through Everton in the Community and its Premier League Primary Stars programme.

The global ticket sales and distribution company have invested in the charity’s primary school provision in a bid to inspire the next generation into the world of Maths.

The funding enabled EitC, the Club’s official charity to deliver a six-week programme and host a mass event at Goodison Park as part of this year’s World Maths Day.

The event, ‘Matchday Maths’ saw ten gifted and talented mathematicians from each of Everton in the Community’s eight Premier League Primary Stars partner schools finding out more about the typical matchday roles at Everton with tasks set from staff members in roles across the club and weekly ticketing challenges to win tickets to attend matches.

Supporting The Next Generation

The attendees were then chosen as Premier League Primary Stars Maths Ambassadors for their respected school, helping EitC to deliver the six-week programme to ten year five classes across seven schools, altogether reaching 223 participants.

93% of those participants felt inspired and engaged as a result of the six-week initiative and 95% felt they had developed their skills and knowledge throughout the project, whilst a teacher from one of the charity’s partner schools commented:

“This unit of work has been incredible for some of my lower ability pupils. One participant hasn’t engaged in Maths all year but looked forward to the weekly lessons. He was so keen to learn that they extended the project by a week and created a resource for a new role he would like to learn more about.”

Everton in the Community’s Premier League Primary Stars programme uses the appeal of football to help children in primary schools be active and develop essential life skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.

And Chris Gratton from Ticketmaster Sport, shared how the outcomes of the programme align with the company’s values: “Ticketmaster Sport is committed to giving back and supporting the communities where we live and work.

“Our partnership with Everton in the Community on Matchday Maths is one example of how we can use the power of football to inspire young people, build confidence, and develop skills for the future that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

“By investing in initiatives like this, we’re proud to play our part in helping the next generation across Merseyside thrive, on and off the pitch.”

EitC’s Primary Stars, Senior Coordinator, Elena Barton added: “At Everton in the Community, we’re always looking for the next idea to bring education to life in a fun and engaging way.

“Thanks to Ticketmaster, we’ve been able to inspire young people to see maths in a whole new way. By connecting classroom learning with real-life football scenarios, we’ve been able to spark curiosity, build confidence and show that maths really is for everyone.”
