Before we saw the government halt the test events this past weekend, Surrey CCC at their world famous venue The Kia Oval welcomed their competition Middlesex CCC but also a few unfamiliar faces…1000 of their membership base to come and enjoy the two day friendly.

Surrey CCC were one of the original clubs selected by the government to take part in their trial events which took place across the country and it’s safe to say it was a roaring success.

We wanted to share our experiences of the day and how we’re continuing to help our clients return to live.

From beginning to end the whole day went extremely smoothly with fans respecting social distancing measures. Whilst the new seating arrangements were slightly abnormal to what we’re used to it was not the focus of the day, instead watching live cricket was.

Our lives have had to adjust so dramatically in the past five months and attending regular live sport was one of these adjustments. Ticketmaster Sport’s very own were there in attendance to witness it and had some thoughts to share of their experience.

Normality, as boring as that might sound before 2020, it was absolutely incredible. I could sit back and relax in the sun (first half of the day) and enjoy county cricket on it’s biggest stage. The social distancing element was no stress and like many things we’ve adjusted to, this was another.

Surrey CCC X Ticketmaster Sport

Ticketmaster Sport have supported us through this trial period. We hope to be taking part in further government sanctioned test events and are very keen to welcome members and supporters back through the gates as soon as the situation allows. We appreciate our partnership with Ticketmaster Sport and will continue to work closely with them as we continue along the road back to normality.

Charlie Hodgson, Managing Director, Surrey CCC

We were delighted to see Surrey CCC and The Kia Oval chosen to lead the government series of test events. We had all been waiting patiently for the first event of return to live and for us to play a role in supporting this was an extremely proud moment for everyone at Ticketmaster Sport. We’re looking forward to working closely with Surrey and all of our clients to help them return fans to stadiums safely in the coming months. Taking learnings from these pilot events is going to be key as we look to October 1st and we’re of course working hard to bring new tools and functionality to our platform to support the client base.
