Cape Town will be the first sub-Saharan African city to host a round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship – an all-electric open-wheel, street circuit race – on Saturday, 25 February 2023.
Featuring Table Mountain as a backdrop, coupled with unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island, the Cape Town leg of this thrilling event is set to be among the most iconic races on the 2023 championship calendar.
Fans will be treated to fast, exciting open-wheel street racing on a stunning new track in the Mother City with sustainability at its core.
Action-Packed Fan Experience: With thrills on and off the track, there will be plenty for fans and families to see and do. The Allianz Fan Village is the Centre of the fan experience at every race, with a variety of entertainment and activities for Formula E fans of all ages.
Meet the Heroes: Tune into the driver presentation before the race for exclusive interviews with the drivers to hear what they thought of their qualifying performance and how they are feeling ahead of the race.
Power up in the Food Courts: Every winner needs to recharge at some point. Be sure to dive into a tasty meal or snack at one of our food and beverage hubs inside the Allianz E-Village – where everything is carefully presented and responsibly sourced.
Gaming Arena: Think you’ve got what it takes? Compete on racing simulators in the Gaming Arena and set your best time on a virtual version of the real circuit!
In the lead-up to the race, Cape Town will also host E-Fest Cape Town – a festival of activities and events showcasing e-mobility and renewable energy solutions. It serves as a celebration of Go Green Africa, a shared mission founded by organizations committed to playing a meaningful role in helping to accelerate Africa’s transition to a “Green Economy” in a just and inclusive way.
E-Fest Cape Town will consist of various activities advocating for electric mobility, including,
- E-Fest ELECTRIC is an e-mobility festival featuring all things electric, from electric cars to motorbikes, one-wheeler scooters, bicycles, and charging solutions.
- Africa’s Green Economy Summit (AGES) will have showcases that aim to connect global capital with opportunities within the company.
