Ticket demand for the Rugby League World Cup got off to a flying start this week, when the tournament launched their priority access sale.

The team at RLWC2021 have confirmed that all 61 matches at next years tournament have had applications which includes each respective men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments that will run in unison.

In addition, as a thankyou to the UK’s key workers there were large numbers of key workers logging on as applications opened for free tickets here. Launched back in the height of the pandemic the team wanted to reward everyone’s tireless work in protecting and supporting local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jon Dutton, the RLWC2021 CEO said:

“Ticket sales exceeded expectations today and I want to thank those that have bought the first tickets for their support and the belief they have shown in the tournament at a difficult time.

We are also thrilled that so many members of the frontline key workers have taken up our offer to be part of the tournament. They are the real heroes of 2020 and we wanted them to know how much we appreciate their truly amazing efforts.

RLWC2021 is still 13 months away but will be the biggest and best in history and the fans – particularly the Rugby League Family – will be a central part of creating passion, civic pride and memories”

Richard Evans, Director of Tournaments for Ticketmaster Sport added:

“Ticketmaster Sport has worked together with Rugby League World Cup 2021 to give fans priority access to purchase tickets for the Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair tournaments this week. With our new payment methods including Klarna Instalment payments Apple pay and Google pay, we’re pleased that we’ve made it even easier for fans to get their tickets to next year’s showcase event.

We are extremely pleased with the success of the sales launch, and over the moon that such a high volume of fans have purchased tickets, despite the current pandemic challenges. It’s exceeded expectations and shows a really positive sign for the return to live sport. Congratulations team RLWC!”
