Ticketmaster Sport joins PIA, Japan’s leading ticketing services provider, to deliver world-class ticketing for the upcoming World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo.

PIA will oversee domestic operations while leveraging Ticketmaster’s cutting-edge white-label technology to deliver a smooth, secure and flexible experience for fans. Tailored for the Japanese market, local payment options and multi-language support will be provided.

PIA brings a strong track record of servicing major international sporting events, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, 2002 FIFA World Cup, and, alongside our team, the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The fan response has been phenomenal. During the August 2024 presale, an impressive 91% of purchasers were first-time buyers in Japan – highlighting the local market’s strong appetite for international competition. Since the general sale began in January 2025, tickets have continued to sell rapidly, attracting fans from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and beyond.

“Ticketmaster is proud to once again collaborate with PIA to deliver world-class ticketing for one of the world’s largest sporting events. Building on the success of our collaboration during the 2019 Rugby World Cup, we’re thrilled to bring our global platform and trusted technology to Athletics fans – ensuring a seamless, secure experience from the moment of purchase to arrival at the stadium gates.” – Richard Evans, Ticketmaster’s VP of Tournaments.

The World Athletics Championships will take place in Tokyo from 13–21 September 2025.
