In just 100 days’ time the Middle East will host the biggest ever sporting event to come to the region, with the world’s finest athletes competing to win gold.
The city of Doha is also getting ready to deliver a winning performance, welcoming over 3,500 athletes, coaches and officials to the sporting spectacle which gets underway on Saturday 28 September, until Sunday 6 October. Fans can expect a packed timetable of action in both track and field events including the highly anticipated 100m and 200m sprints, through to the dizzy heights of the pole vault jump and high jump and show of sheer strength with hammer and shotput throws. The competition, which takes place every two years, will be the 17th edition of the championships which have a history of delivering iconic athletics moments which include gold medal wins for sprinting legend Usain Bolt and long-distance champions Sir Mo Farah and Tirunesh Dibaba and hometown favourite Mutaz Barshim.
